Hello everyone, and welcome to Bon Dia Barcelona! First, allow me to address the name of my blog. In Catalan, “bon dia” means hello and Catalan is the primary languages spoke in Catalonia — the district where Barcelona is located. My dad grew up in Barcelona and my mother attended college in Barcelona, so naturally Spanish culture, and more specifically Catalan culture, has played a significant role in my life. I have spent months in the city, and hope to live there when I graduate college. As my blog develops, you will find more and more little hints and references to the city and its culture. One of my favorite parts about Barcelona are the sidewalk tiles, as silly as it may sounds, so I they may pop up here and there around the blog.

I have never made a blog before, and the closest I have come to either a journalistic or communications-based education is newspaper camp over the summer between my junior and senior years of high school. Although serving on the staff of my high school newspaper was great, I am ready and excited to receive a formal journalistic education — and that starts with ASCJ 200, and therefore this blog. Before I get started with my first ~real~ blog post, here are a few fast facts about me. I am a freshman studying journalism (obviously) in addition to Law and Public Policy within the Price School at USC and Comedy in the School of Cinematic Arts. I am a tour guide for the Admissions Center (walking backwards is much harder than it looks) and I am an opinion writer for the Daily Trojan. Outside of school, I enjoy eating Mexican food and playing with my doggos, Solomon and Finley. My dream job, although it is constantly changing, is currently to work for NPR. Some of my other go to news sources include CNN, OC Register, LA Times, and the Daily Trojan. Outside of news, I am constantly on Bon Appétit, watching SNL reruns on Youtube, making future home vision boards with the help of Anthropologie Home, watching the newest cheesy romantic comedy on Netflix, or listening to books on Audible (just finished Becoming by Michelle Obama, I highly recommend it.
That’s enough about me for now, you will soon get to know me more with each post to come. Bye for now!
